Malcolm Rathmell

Malcolm Rathmell was born on 18th June 1949 in the small market town of Otley West Yorkshire.


He is a former profesional trials rider who specialised in observed trials winning the Euoropean Trials Championship in 1974 for Bultaco.


His best ever placing in the World Trials Championship was 2nd in 1976 for Montesa


The European championship was considered to be the world championship at the time, as the sport of trials had yet to develop outside of Europe.


 Malcolm was rarely of a podium and had some tremendous battles with his arch rival , fellow Yorkshire man and dear friend Martin Lampkin

Malcolm rode for Greaves in the early 1970's moving to Bultaco till 1974, he almost went to Ossa in 1974 but stayed with Bultaco because of legal reasons.


Malcolm moved to Montesa in 1975 and stayed with them till 1982 , having a short spell with Suzuki in 1978


Wining the world famous Scott Trials no less than 6 times and the Scottish Six day twice along with one British trials Championship win in 1979


In 1991 Malcolm went on to open Malcolm Rathmell Sport Ltd or as we know it today 'MRS'


He started importing Aprilia and is currently the sole distributor for Sherco
